So since the last update, two full "GSOP" tournies have come and gone.
I didn't cash. I'm on a rush to end all rushes, batting 1.000 on "not cashes" for the three weeks.
Anyway, the PLO high event was won by the same man who won Seven-Stud: Back to back Meehan.
Now, if we could just get him to realize that he doesn't play very well, we wouldn't have to sit and watch as he loses five buy-ins in 45 minutes playing the .5/1 NL on Party.
Anyway, Omaha: I forget how I busted. Razz: I really don't care how I busted.
I think in addition to whatever psychological issues I may have, I must have some latent masochistic tendencies: The Seven-handed Razz tournament was some of the most fun I've had in a while. My favorite hand of the night:
The one-and-only Tricky McGee (We'll call him TMG from now on) completes the bring-in from a steal position with a 3 showing. I'm perfect down low, with a J door card. I raise, figuring not only that he might be on a steal with a worse hand, but that I can win the pot if he catches badly and I catch decent, and that I'll be getting a free card to see fifth very frequently, since I'm going to be acting last probably >70% of the time. He calls, he catches some random middle card, and I catch a J on fourth. I started laughing and folded as soon as he moved his hand in the vicinity of his chips. He showed a pair of 3s. What an awesome game.
The "Main Event" started tonight. $50 buy in, 26-30ish people, NLHE. Spread out over a couple days. The day 1 field is down to 6, with myself being roughly tied for the chip lead. First live tournament I've played in a year or so that didn't feel like chump change, and I may be close to the chip lead going into the final day, depending on how tomorrow's field goes. Surely it's more coincidence than playing my "A" game, but it's still interesting to note.
I had ideas for lengthy, drawn-out posts on a few things, like my thoughts on the true value of survival in tournament poker, and how powerful the "donkbet" can be given the right circumstances, but those are not going to happen tonight.
Gotta be up bright and early, meaning noon tomorrow, so I should probably sleep.
